The device presented here is equipped with a powerful Intel Core i5-6500T quad-core processor, which is integrated with an Intel HD Graphics 530 graphics card. You can install 16 GB DDR4 RAM and two hard disks: an M.2 SSD and a 2.5' drive.

On the front are three USB 3.0 ports with charging function, a universal audio combo jack, as found on most smartphones, line output, a hard disk indicator light and a power button. At the rear, you will find a mains connection, HDMI, DisplayPort and four USB 3.0 ports, including one with Power Share. There is also a LAN input and a security slot, to which we will connect a security cable and an optional serial or video port.

7040 Micro as an all-in-one computer

Inside the computer, the manufacturer has included a slot for an M.2 SSD that is compatible with 42 and 80 mm drives, an M.2 port for a WLAN card, a SATA port for a 2.5-inch drive, two slots for DDR4 SODIMM memory, active CPU cooling and a mono speaker.

The components are housed in a tiny case that is 18.2 cm long, 17.8 cm wide and 3.6 cm high. Thanks to the micro housing, the device fits easily on a desk without taking up much space. The Dell Optiplex 7040 Micro can be operated both horizontally and vertically, either without or with a special Dell stand.
