Eizo EV2457 review
Eizo ev2457 test
The EV2457 is a representative of the FlexScan series, a line of EIZO monitors designed primarily for office work and multi-monitor applications. At first glance, you can see that the designers have focused on minimalism and ergonomics - thin, almost invisible bezels, lightweight design and the option of choosing the version in white make the equipment fit well in a modern office.
Image quality and colors
The screen is based on an IPS LED panel with Full HD resolution (1920 × 1200 px). For an office monitor - that's enough, although at 24.1 inches you can see that the sharpness is a bit less than in 4K panels. The advantage, on the other hand, is very good color reproduction - the monitor fully covers the sRGB space, which makes it great not only for spreadsheets and documents, but also for simpler photo editing or preparing graphic content for the Internet. For those working in AdobeRGB or DCI-P3, the EV2457 will be too limited, but for everyday office tasks and web applications it performs admirably.
EIZO office monitors, including the EV2457, use at least a 10-bit Look-Up Table (LUT). In practice, this means more accurate color reproduction than in standard monitors with an 8-bit table. As a result, tonal transitions are smooth and free of visible color "jaggies." Users can also adjust the settings themselves - for example, adjusting the white balance from 4,000 K to 10,000 K, in 500 K steps. This allows you to better match the image characteristics to the environment and your own preferences.
Working in a multi-screen configuration
For those who need more working space, the EV2457 offers daisy chain support (serial connections) via DisplayPort 1.2 MST. This allows you to hook up several monitors to a single output on your computer - up to four devices in a daisy chain, greatly simplifying your desk layout and reducing the number of cables.
Such a solution is especially advantageous when working with multiple applications at the same time, such as worksheets, documents, browser, instant messenger. Connecting monitors in a row keeps the desk neat, and your eyesight gets less tired when switching between screens.
EIZO mentions that it is independently testing the compatibility of various computers with daisy chain technology, which gives greater confidence that the device will work stably with multiple systems.
Work comfort - no more eye fatigue
The EV2457 is equipped with a whole suite of technologies to improve ergonomics:
- Auto EcoView - a light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness to the environment.
- Paper Mode + Blue Light Reduction - a document reading mode that, combined with EcoView adjustment, reduces blue light emissions by up to 80%, protecting eyesight for long hours of work.
- Flicker-Free - a hybrid brightness adjustment method makes the image stable and does not cause rapid fatigue.
- Anti-glare coating - reduces light reflections, making the monitor also suitable for bright offices.
Additional features and ergonomics
- USB hub - four USB 3.1 Type A ports allow you to connect peripherals without reaching under your desk.
- Video connectors - DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D, as well as DisplayPort output for daisy-chaining.
- Built-in speakers on the front - a convenient solution for video conferencing, although the sound quality is rather basic.
- Adjustable stand - full range of ergonomics: height, pivot, swivel and tilt.
- Screen InStyle software - allows you to control the settings of multiple monitors at once, and IT administrators can thus centrally manage the configuration of workstations.
Variants:
Energy efficiency and power switch
EIZO equips its monitors with a mechanical power switch that cuts power consumption completely when switched to "Off" mode. In standby mode, power consumption is symbolic - a maximum of 0.5 watts. This is a practical solution for those who pay attention to electricity bills and want to reduce energy consumption in the office.
In addition, the EV2457 also has a presence sensor. If the user walks away from the desk, the monitor will automatically switch to power-saving mode. When we return, the screen immediately activates and is ready to work. This solution not only reduces power consumption, but also extends the life of the panel.
Speakers integrated on the front of the case
The monitor has built-in speakers located in the front of the case. This directs the sound directly to the user, which works well for videoconferencing or video playback. Unfortunately, the speakers are 5W and the sound quality is obviously not a substitute for a dedicated audio set, but for office applications it is fully sufficient.
Performance and impressions in practice
In everyday use, the monitor runs very smoothly - fast switching between windows, legible text and stable backlighting mean that even after several hours you don't feel eye fatigue. Colors are natural and evenly distributed across the screen. For typical office applications, the EV2457 is virtually unbeatable. For gaming it is not suitable (60 Hz and no gaming features), but after all, that is not what it was designed for.
Bottom line - is the EIZO EV2457 worth buying
FlexScan EV2457 is a monitor that perfectly finds itself as a premium office tool. Elegant design, the ability to create multi-screen configurations, full coverage of the sRGB palette and pro-health solutions make working on it comfortable and productive.
