GlacierX Noir smartwatch review
GlacierX Noir smartwatch review
The GlacierX Noir smartwatch is a modern device that combines advanced technology, sleek design and a wide range of health and utility functions. For those who appreciate both aesthetics and practicality, this model offers not only a stylish design, but also numerous solutions to make everyday life easier.
Let's take a closer look at what it has to offer. For me, it is the successor to the GlacierX Gigant, which I recently described. I was waiting for it with impatience, because, as you know, the "original" was very much to my liking.
Design and build quality
The GlacierX Noir attracts attention with its elegant round silver-colored envelope, 47 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick. The design gives the watch a modern yet classic look. It makes me think of glaciers, which are the brand's inspiration, as I mentioned in my previous test. The icing on the cake is the rotating button/dial this time in silver. It doesn't catch the eye, but perfectly adds class to the whole compass.
It comes with two silicone straps (in brown (here imitation leather and silicone) and green), which can be easily replaced, adjusting the appearance of the device to your preferences.
Workmanship stands at a high level - a solid envelope and durable materials ensure durability during daily use. Water resistance at 3ATM makes the GlacierX Noir resistant to accidental splashes, making it a suitable choice for rainy days or intense workouts.
Display - image quality at the highest level
At the heart of the smartwatch is a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. AMOLED technology provides deep blacks, vivid colors and excellent readability even in bright sunlight. The screen is fully touchscreen, allowing intuitive control and smooth menu navigation. The watch's individual menu items operate smoothly when swiped with a finger.
In addition, the user has the ability to personalize the watch face, allowing the user to customize the appearance of the interface to his or her liking. With the OnWear Pro app, you can choose from a variety of ready-made themes or create your own dial.
Health and sports features
The GlacierX Noir is not just a stylish gadget - it also offers advanced health monitoring functions. Among them you will find:
- Heart rate measurement - continuous monitoring of heart rate in real time. A slight discrepancy with professional devices for this type of measurement. Here you should always have a reserve. Even in more expensive products, measurements of this type are questioned by doctors and should simply be taken with a pinch of salt.
- Oximeter - measurement of blood oxygenation levels. Here it is very good, as I have a professional oximeter at home and it displays the same oxygen results.
- Sleep monitoring - analysis of sleep phases and quality of rest. Here, too, just for the purpose of the test, I took a measurement at night. Unfortunately, I slept poorly that night. Probably because I'm not used to sleeping with a watch, but the measurement showed that "it was weak" and I'm sleep-deprived. Of course, this is consistent with the truth ;).
- Pressure measurement - fast and precise readings. Here it is the same as for heart rate measurement. It's good, it's not perfect, but it's not a medical device.
- Respiratory training - a function that helps relaxation and stress reduction. Here it works well and coolly helps relieve stress.
For activity enthusiasts, the GlacierX Noir offers a multi-discipline mode that allows you to track different types of sports - from running and cycling to swimming. Measuring distance traveled and a counter of calories burned help you monitor your workout progress.
A built-in accelerometer ensures the accuracy of measurements, and GPS satellite navigation enables precise tracking during outdoor activities. In a test with another program that measures distances while cycling, the difference was less than 1% so it's really good in this context.
Connectivity and phone integration
The watch supports Bluetooth technology, which allows it to easily connect to Android (version 6.0 and above) and iOS (version 12.0 and above) smartphones. Thanks to integration with the OnWear Pro app, users can track their performance, personalize settings and manage notifications. It's also important to note that, relative to its predecessor, the Bluetooth signal has been strengthened so the watch disconnects from the device less often. Switching between devices in the car also works better, the watch no longer disconnects our connectivity with the on-board computer, but works in the background all the time and we receive notifications. In the original, there was sometimes a problem with this. Notification functions include
- Preview of SMS, email and social media app messages.
- Call information with the ability to answer and reject calls.
- A voice assistant to facilitate hands-free commands.
Battery - everyday performance
The GlacierX Noir features a 270 mAh battery, which provides about 2-3 days of operation on a single charge with standard use. An inductive charger is included, making the charging process convenient and fast. In my case it is simply two days. However, I checked it only for the purpose of this text. Normally I don't sleep with the watch and immediately put it on the charger.
Of course, I obtained 2 days with AOD enabled. In this mode we have a choice of two dials analog or digital. They only display the date and time without the need to lift the hand for the correct dial to appear. Of course, if we don't use AOD, the watch's operation is significantly extended.
Additional features - small things that make a difference
In addition to the basic functions, the smartwatch offers several useful extras
- Weather forecast - current information about weather conditions.
- Stopwatch, audible and vibration alarm, alarm clock, calendar - helpful in organizing the day.
- Flashlight - a practical solution in the dark. Not as powerful as in the ring, since this time it illuminates our dial (no LED), but it's not bad either.
- Music playback - media control directly from the wrist.
Conclusion - is the GlacierX Noir smartwatch worth buying?
GlacierX Noir is a versatile smartwatch that combines elegant design with a wealth of features. The high-quality AMOLED display, advanced health monitoring tools, phone integration and 3ATM water resistance make it an excellent choice for those with an active lifestyle, as well as those who appreciate modern technology. It is impossible to describe all the functions, as there are a lot of them. I focused on the most important ones.
Although the battery life (2-3 days) is not record-breaking, the numerous functions compensate for this inconvenience. If you are looking for a smartwatch that combines style with functionality, GlacierX Noir will certainly meet your expectations.
