iPhone X review - a real treasure from Apple

The first colossal change is, of course, the look. The new design focuses on the small bezel. The fact that the screen is on the entire surface is a huge change compared to its predecessors. The effect is very pleasing to the eye and aesthetically pleasing. It's also a great combination of glass and stainless steel. Everything is perfectly cut and fitted so that the first time you touch the iPhone X, you feel like you're dealing with a top product. I would also like to add that the whole thing is hermetically sealed and waterproof
The screen of the iPhone X will put many phones in the shade
By stretching the screen to its full length, we get a panel with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, which even today, 3 years after its release, still puts many devices on the market to shame. I currently have an iPhone 7 Plus, but after using the X version for a while, I was already sure that a switch to this particular model would happen at some point. The minimally enlarged operating platform provides additional comfort, and the only thing that might bother you a little is the camera protruding on the back and the fact that the smartphone is a little slippery. Rest assured that it hasn't fallen out of my hand... Not yet, but with prolonged use I would definitely invest in some sort of case
We'll say the most about the screen, of course, as it's the part of the device that gets the most use and viewing. There's no denying that the 5.8-inch panel offers wonderful color depth and maximum contrast. Even the notch in the screen is imperceptible to the eye when watching videos. The bending of the corners could be achieved thanks to the OLED Super Retina HD display, which was of course made by Samsung. Apple had been using IPS LCDs for a long time but finally decided to make the switch, which of course translates into far better performance, e.g. a contrast of 1000000:1. In comparison, the iPhone 8 barely has 1400:1. The color depth, especially for black, is also better. In addition, there are no more torn icons, as the screen resolution is a full 2436 x 1125 pixels. That's 458 pixels per inch. The figures are really impressive
It is also worth mentioning that the screen supports HDR and True Tone technologies, which are also known from the iPad Pro. What does this mean in practice? The smartphone adjusts the color, or more precisely the temperature, to the ambient light. As a result, the image on the screen always looks very natural, warm and, above all, very pleasing to the eye. The screen naturally has 3D touch technology, but this is nothing new. In previous devices, screens were also pressure-sensitive
New aesthetic design
We offer the devices in black or silver. Both are aesthetically pleasing and look great, but also catch fingerprints easily. As you probably know, the back is made of glass, but that shouldn't come as a surprise because wireless charging will not use the aluminum back that was used on previous models
A new feature of the iPhone X is the side button, which is no longer just used to turn the phone on and off. From now on, it can be used to call Siri or activate sleep mode. Turning off the X is even more difficult. Apple probably always wants to be with us and now we have to use a combination: side button + mute button. Only then is the hardware switched off. Fortunately, the volume buttons have remained unchanged. I'm also pleased that the silent mode switch, which I've always praised, has stayed in place. The lower part of the device naturally houses the microphone and speaker, as well as the Lightning connector for headphones and charging
iPhone X with Face ID
The changes relate not only to the screen, but also to the absence of Touch ID. The iPhone X now has Face ID, which scans our face from different angles when we turn on the phone for the first time. We can only add one face pattern. Just a reminder: on old smartphones, you could add multiple fingerprint patterns. In practice, however, Face ID works perfectly. With a scarf, with a hat, with or without facial hair, it recognizes that it's me. Even if we change our hairstyle, we are prompted to enter the code and the camera itself remembers what changes we have made so that it does not ask for the code again
The big change besides inductive charging is the absence of the home button. This is the biggest change for me, which meant I had to learn the iPhone from scratch. I couldn't get used to it for a long time. Now we have the home icon at the bottom of the screen. Apple has left everything to gestures. For example, you have to swipe up briefly to exit an app. This is just one example, and there are many such nuances. You will have to spend some time to master all these innovations
In addition, there are a lot of great features like a proximity sensor, a lighting sensor, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, a light sensor and many others. The connectivity is GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE and VoLTE. There is also Wi-Fi with calling feature to work in 802.11 a/b/g/n and ac with MIMO standard. There's also Bluetooth 5.0, which is beautifully coordinated with the system and works brilliantly
Why buy the iPhone X?
The use of stereo speakers is ideal for calls and videos. The sound is of the highest quality and it is difficult to find a phone on the market that is better in this respect. The microphone also picks up the voice perfectly and I have nothing to complain about in this respect
The same goes for photos and videos. According to many reviews, this is one of the aspects for which it is worth buying the iPhone X, and there is a lot of truth to that. On the day of its launch, it was the second best smartphone in the world in terms of the quality of pictures taken, according to the DXOmark ranking. Only Google Pixel 2 beat it
I will not list all the parameters of the lens here, you can probably read about it in specialized portals. I would like to add that the photos and videos are wonderful. We have a 2x optical zoom and a 10x digital zoom. Image stabilization has not been forgotten either. With the rear lens, you can take photos with a resolution of 3024 x 4032 and record videos in 4K at 60 frames per second. Wow! At lower resolutions: 1080p and 720p we have cinematic stabilization
The front camera, the so-called TrueDepth, has also been improved. Now we have a seven-megapixel matrix in our hands, which allows us to make calls in Full HD
A few words about the iPhone X battery
The iPhone X battery has two cells. We get a capacity of 2716 mAh. My used device had a battery life of 91%, which is almost the maximum. This allows for about 20 hours of talk time - without interruption. Don't ask how I checked that :-). OK, I'll tell you. I started a call at 11:59pm on the first day with the second phone connected to the charger and waited for it to discharge. It switched off, as is easy to calculate, at around 10pm the following day. So the result is excellent
Unfortunately, I was unable to carry out the second test, as the manufacturer assures me that the new battery provides 60 hours of listening time. This means that I can enjoy about 55 hours of music with the state of my phone's battery, unless I go crazy before then. In a mixed cycle, i.e. a bit of internet use and a bit of talking, the device's battery lasts me about 1.5 days. Charging is of course done with a normal charger. Unfortunately, there is no fast charger included, although the device supports this technology. Of course, all these extras are available on our market
As I write these words, I already have 4 pages of text. So many words about a used smartphone. The iPhone X is amazing, and yet I've mentioned several times myself that I'm not describing all the features in detail. You'll probably check it out for yourself anyway. That's just the way the iPhone X is. It surprises like a pirate's treasure. A coin here, a chalice and a piece of jewelry there. We always discover something new, and it's the same with a Apple smartphone. A treasure in its purest form. I can only warmly recommend it
