What is a lease return and is it worth buying a used computer?

2022-06-08

If you only have a limited budget for buying a computer, you can consider buying devices after leasing. On the market, you can easily find devices in the price range up to 400 euros. Just keep in mind that if you need a computer with more powerful parameters, you will not be able to find a new one at this price. For this reason, it is worth taking a look at leasing returns. It often happens that for the above amount you will buy a laptop with very good parameters, which is incomparably better than many new computers on the market.

What does it mean that the computer is after leasing?

Most people associate leasing with a car fleet, but it turns out that computer equipment can also be leased. So what is leasing all about? The answer is simple: corporations, banks and large companies need a lot of computers to work efficiently. For them, buying hundreds of laptops is completely unprofitable, so they are happy to resort to leasing as a financing option. As with cars, buying such a large amount of equipment is a huge investment and it is much better to lease computers and spread the cost over time. At the end of the leasing period, the equipment is returned and the company takes newer models as it does not want to pay the last, so-called "largest installment". Older computers (max. 3 years) are sold by the lessor to stores such as AMSO, which in turn resell them. Unfortunately, there are not many companies on the market like AMSO that firstly have reliable suppliers and secondly check and classify the equipment through a special audit department before the computers reach the stores or are shipped.

Post-lease computers are often business devices that are not available in retail chains and, above all, are leased for a maximum of 3 years. Thanks to this, there are gems in the form of devices that have been used for less than a year. The range is huge and manufacturers of this type of equipment are outbidding each other with solutions to attract a major player and take it under their wing. That's why the most well-known brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Fujitsu and a few others are going all out to make the devices reliable for businesses and offer what the devices for home use don't have.

One example is laminated motherboards, which drain away all the water in the event of flooding and ensure that the devices can continue to operate. The housings are also made of metal or a metal alloy rather than plastic, so they are more resistant to damage and also dissipate heat better, resulting in a lower failure rate of the device. Other technical specifications such as processors, RAM and hard disks are usually the best available on the market at the time.

There are so many examples that we could write a separate article on this topic. All of this is because companies cannot afford downtime. A worker or production machine not working is a huge loss, so it is important that this equipment is reliable and efficient at all times and does not bring losses, but profits.

Is computer after lease a good choice?

There are as many answers to this question as there are users. It all depends on what you want to use the computer for. If you want to work, study or surf the Internet, you will be happy with your purchase. If you are looking for a solution for creating architectural projects or editing photos, you will also find what you are looking for. However, these are not office computers or laptops, but graphics stations with even more powerful processors and graphics cards. In this case, the 400 euros mentioned in the introduction will be exceeded.

More powerful devices are required not only for office work, but also for other activities such as gaming. Most users are positive about these devices, because for a relatively small amount (almost 70% cheaper than new devices) they use a used computer for many years, which is very powerful and has a warranty in AMSO stores. The standard protection is 12 months, but it is possible to extend the warranty up to 36 months

Finally, it is worth mentioning that with AMSO a new operating system license is added to the hardware. This is a new key that has never been used, as the Originalstickers are unfortunately not valid in our country. For the small money of 15 /30 EUR (Windows 10 Home/Windows 10 Pro) we get a legal system. Unfortunately, there are also dishonest sellers on the market who use old stickers to update Windows to the latest version. This of course violates the Microsft license, and in the event of an inspection, the owner can be held liable. It is therefore worth paying attention when buying devices after leasing and choosing a vendor that offers Windows in the refubished (MAR) version.
